At the Elisabeet, the water is extended from the Friedhof’s water system. At the moment the outlet is extended to vegetable garden and tunnel part but not to the side where we plan the color garden and the new flower garden. With Gesa, who is developing the flower garden, we talked about how we can make a new water line for the color and flower garden side. It will be nice to have a “tab” water near by so we can use it for watering the plants and also when we works with dyeing.

This is where the water source of the Elisabeet is installed. There is a water meter for our use on this pipe, and from there it is split into 2. Both the pipes are going under ground to a plastic box, and are connected to robust PE pipe that can be buried in soil. My proposal now is to replace the L shaped parts inside the plastic box (the bottom left photo) with T shaped parts so we can add another underground pipe here to bring to the color garden side.
I made a quick research on internet, and the parts is called PE Fitting | PE Rohr Verschraubung and we need T shaped 25mm pipe fitting. I find some listings on eBay and it cost s around 10 Euros. One can also find these PE pipes on eBay. 50m pipe costs 83 Euros.

Now the parts is found, we have to agree if and how we split the water system to the new developing part of the garden and purchase the material and install it. Living in a city in an apartment, I take infrastructure system like water as given environment… but actually it is quite amazing that there are water when you turn the tab!

I started off the Mitmachtag this time by fixing the water pipe connections with Dennis, who made the water system layout for the Elisabeet 5 years ago. I asked him if he is a professional in this trade and he said “I watched a lot of Youtube videos”. I think we are on the same approach;) The water leaking problem we had turned out to be the soft pipe that connects water outlet to hard water pipes placed underground getting old. We cut off the old part and made the connection new… then it does not leak anymore. I talked with Denis about our plan of extending the water system to the other side. He confirmed that our plan of getting T-shaped plug and using the harder pipe for laying the pipe underground would be the way to go. Good to hear the second opinion! Also it was good to work on this repair so I could learn how these pipes and plugs works.
