September 14 14:00 – 17:00
Although the day started cloudy with a bit of rain, it was almost sunny as we started the workshop. We started with a small introduction of what is shibori/tie-dye/batic as technique used in combination with dye techniques. Shibori and Indigo dye is interesting as indigo needs to oxidize in its dye process and by tie/squeezing, it prevents the color to oxidize and therefor it remains undyed. Some participants even had previous experience with shibori and brought some new ideas. We tried mame(bean) shibori, itashime shibori, sekka shibori and murakumo shibori. Each fabric was died 4-5 times and we achieved nice deep blue. It is always nice to experience the surprise when one opens the shibori at the end. We were quite happy with the outcome.
It was a really nice “blau machen” sunday afternoon!
