September 15th<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have been failing with Katazome and fermentation indigo vat. It is very different from the iron sulfate vat I worked at the Zeugf\u00e4rberei<\/a> for the Indigo Hyphae<\/a> project before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, I first made the pattern sketch on a paper, traced cutting lines to a tracing paper, then using carbon copy paper, I copied the pattern to a katazome stencil paper<\/a>. Then I cut off what needs to be printed with design cutter. Then printed katanori<\/a> on a scoured<\/a> cotton fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paste is dried for few days, then dye process starts. I dipped 3min in, then at least 5min outside (sometimes much longer) and repeated the dip for 6 times. I was afraid that the resist paste will come out, but actually it was quite stable. Probably it could hold another few dips. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, I washed the fabric in warm\/cold water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am quite happy with the outcome. The pattern looks very crisp, details did not get lost and blue part is quite blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
