September 14
I have been harvesting flower almost every day or every other day and it is surprising how much flower blooms each day. I feel a little bad to harvest almost all the flowers especially when the bees are around. I am taking their food away. On the other hand, as I cut the flowers, the plant does not make seeds and therefor it makes more flowers. So, in a way I am contributing to the bees… but maybe not to the plant.
For the whole of the august to now, dyers cosmos is blooming everyday giving a lot of flowers. Schöneauge is also blooming steadily but not as much as cosmos. Although dyers camomile gives a very nice neon yellow and I would love to have more, it is only blooming once in a while, here and there and I did not gather a lot. Now in mid September, suddenly tagetes are starting to bloom. Today, after the rain and sudden sunshine, I see a lot of tagete fully blooming. I hope I can harvest more of tagetes as they give beautiful orange dye.
