2026, the long cold winter is over and spring is here! This is the first grance of a Madder/Krapp pot we planted last year. The madder plants over wintered, and you can see new leaves coming out! This picture is from the April 3 2026.

We did not manage to clear and prepapre the soil before the winter, but someone has been busy this spring and cleared the old roots and dead plants;) the field looks nicely prepared. Camomile plants are coming back again (it gives much more flowers in the second year) and madder on the field is also coming out. Surprisingly woad/farber weid is green and full in action. Of course it is the native plants in Europe. It fits the climate well.
As I am away from Berlin for March-April for a project, Gesa has taken the task to start the seeds in a seedling planters. As we could not get seeds last year, I bought seeds from the french seed seller. We had over 450 seeds, and ~3 seeds are placed in one planter, ~3mm deep with lightly covered with sand.
