Indigo Plants are frozen!

November 21, 2025

After the last harvest, indigo was growing again, field was getting full with grean leaves, and all of them started to bloom. I was not sure if we shoult harvest now, or wait until the seed is full….. and suddenly it gets super cold over night and htey froze!

Persicaria Tinctoria is not frost resistant. Now that it froze, the plants are dead. I checked the flowers and none of them have seeds in it, including the ones we did not harvest and started to flower much earlier. too bad!

now out of the panic, we decided to harvest what we can. Thanks to the few people who was there this afternoon, we harvested the frozen plants (it was super cold and our hands froze as well!). We made bandles and hang it under the Färbehutte roof. Not sure if it will dry (as it has a lot of frost on it) or it just rot here…
