This is mitmachtag, and finally Berlin is very warm, over 25 degrees, sunny! Thanks to Gesa, the seedlings look very healthy. we decided to umpflanzen/transfer the seedlings to the garden.
Thanks to Madlen, She started “Gründünger/green fertiliser” with this plant (I do not know the name!). It was sowed few weeks before. We were not sure if we should pull it out completely or let it live next to the plants we are planting. We pulled it off this time as we also wanted to add more compost soil. We will see if it was better to pull off or leave the plants in the next weeks.
It was Madlen, Pauline and mika this afternoon on the field. We prepared the soil with extra compost soil, and managed to plant 1 line before we had to leave. We roughly calculated each line will have 2 rows of 15 plants, ~20cm a part. In calculation, we will plant 150 Persicaria Tinctoria in this wield. When we finished with the planting, Madlen gave extra water to the fresh plants.
We run out of time on Friday, because we were also working on other field before hand. We prepared this 1mx1m linen field and sow linen seeds on it. We potentially can make a blue linen fabric completely from scratch!
On 24th, Gesa and Elise and mika continued to plant and we got the whole 150 plants ready. It has been very sunny and warm over the weekend in Berlin. We made sure to water well after the transfer.
We also made 2 pots of Persicaria Tinctoria. One of them will be placed in the tunnel/vinyl house, the other at Madlen’s balcony to see if they will give seeds in the automun. If this works, it will be really nice as the Persicaria Tinctoria seeds in Europe is quite expensive!
